Default Honing the cylinder walls?

Well, i need to hone out my cylinder walls, but i never done it b4, What should i do and any tips on doing it? I have a GSR block and i still have the crank in there, i was told to cover the crank by towels and wd-40 the wall b4 honing and have about a 30 degree cross hair...Any other suggestions?

I personally would just disassemble the whole motor before i hone the block, i mean if you have the head off and the pistons out, why not just go the extra step and remove the crank so you don't get any shavings stuck between the bearing, oil passage etc..

ps you need to use the 3 stone hone.

yah i thought about that but it's alot eaiser for me to just put a towel over it...
