Stock Car Experience Program - Pocono
Wow, just got in from running the stock car experience program at Pocono Raceway. It was really eye opening. I only did the ride along program, didn't drive or anything.
I swear going down the straights it feels like your in slow motion, but then you hit the corner and the banking and it just feels like nothing else. I was not even expecting the kinda of forces that were being felt. Turn 1 was absolutely incredible.
I also was pretty shocked at how bumpy the track actually way. Pocono always looked to be so smooth to me, but it really isn't. Especially getting into the corners you can feel the bumps upset the car a little bit.
Also the sounds of an 800HP V8 at 9,000 RPM is just incredible. It's like nothing else I've experienced.
If your into any kind of racing, this is a great program to check out some day. I just can't believe there are guys running those cars with 43 other drivers on the track at full tilt the whole time after running this program. However it still is not enough to earn me back as a die hard NASCAR fan. New president and Nextel really screwed the whole series.

What day was this at Pocono? We just had an Enduro/Sprint Race/HPDE with NASA-NE up there this past Saturday & Sunday.

Went for the ride along earlier this summer at Pocono. Turn 1 is crazy. You drop into it and just hang on.....no lifting. And the straights are surprisingly relaxing, just sit back and check out the stands and enjoy the afternoon stroll around the track. I went the week after Gordon busted up his car so there was one fresh patch of paint on the wall.

I can second all of that plus add a little more... In the early spring time I did the Richard Petty program at Chicagoland Speedway and holy crap was that amazing!! Did the ride along first which is an experience all on its own (like you guys said), just the force of the g's that you feel and going into turn 3 at the end of the backstreach, with a slight lift, i couldnt even see straight! Then it was my turn for 8 laps, and that is just a whole nother level of amazing. Besides missing my shift into 4th (dont laugh until you've tried shifting a nascar 4speed, when you're used to a japanese 5or6 speed) it was a flawless run. the power under your right foot is unbelieveable, i caught myself giggling around lap 4. and eventhough it was a actual race car, i was very easy to feel comforable in it and driving it. after what seemed like 2 laps it was over. i swear i could have gone for another 400. i cant wait to do it again
