'89 Crx CEL on

This is an '89 CRX Si with a ZC motor. Where do I read the codes on this one?

there is a light on the ecu.

What ECU are you using? The PM6 (Stock Si) will have the light on the front showing through the kickplate under the passenger side carpet. If it's a PG7 or PM7, the sight glass will be on top. Just count the number of times the light blinks, then look up the code. Here's a link to help w/ the codes:
