Default Why do you love your ITR (I might buy one)?

Hey guys....

I've wanted an ITR for a while now, probably becuase I've had a 95 rs w/ b18c1 with bc 3+, skunk 2 IM, etc ... and a 98 gsr 4dr. I'm now in a position to afford an ITR, and the combination it offers is great - reliability, economical, can be a daily driver no problem, etc. The other choice of car is an e36 m3, preferrably with the s52, probably a 96 or 97 with 100k miles. The R will have between 70-100k, but is a newer car of course. I've had a 95 M3 before, but for a very short period of time (I got such a good deal, I sold it to make money). I drove a 97 R a couple years ago, but didn't really get to push the car at all. What makes you love your ITR, kind of a stupid question but is the handling truly as good as some of the magazines said? I miss the feel of rwd, but an ITR is something I've wanted.

Thanks for your input

Because it's still the best handling FWD car in the world, because it's unique and limited.

Because I can't take it anywhere or park it anywhere.

But in all seriousness, it is probably one of the most economical, purposeful, practical and exhilirating weekend warriors on the planet.

It is an awesome second car and a subpar daily driver, but this is only my opinion.

Yes I have an extreme problem with keeping cars.... I just get bored easily I guess. The R though, it could change that, then again so could a nice M3.

Thanks for the comments so far.

i had a 95 325is, not m3, but i was all about m3s when i owned the bmw. what led me to itr was huge costs of running the bmw when it got above 120k miles. timing chain tensioner needed replacement. lil' things here and there, water pump also failed at 78k miles too. not to mention the bmw felt super heavy compared to itr plus i daily drive my car and it has given me less problems than my old e36. and i got a 01 itr and its nice having something made in this decade. also, less electronics, bmw had the onboard computer, plus 96 up had digital air conditioning, on itr it's how much blue or red do you want? on the ac. i love that. also, those windows on the e36 that retract up to seal, one broke, that was $$.

The reasons why i love my ITR are simple,

it looks so slick when i wash her and lube up the tires, the car screams and pulls all the way to redline like a racecar. handles like a go-kart.

There is NO other car out there that i can think of that is as FUN to drive as the ITR... everyday i get in my ITR and just slam the throttle it brings soo much joy and pleasure. Nothing better then bringing those RPM's up there and just listening to it WAIL while it puts you in your seat and gets your adrenaline flowing.

Iv driven many cars, from the newer mustang GTs, 350z, G35 coupes, Honda S2000, RSX-S, E36 M3.. and it just isn't as 'fun' as the ITR.. but dull and boring.

This is my personal opinion!

drooooooool, that post got me going

Probably becuase I loooove hearing an all motor b series. I got to drive an s2000 at an auto-x and I fell in love. Unfortuantely s2000 doesn't have the room, and practicality of an integra.

This is true.

I love to drive my R. Just wish I didn't have to worry about theives. Although, theives keep my milage down. 53,000 on my 97 ITR.

I love when other integra owners check it out on the road. I hate when civics try to race me. Buying the R was the best thing I could have done, even with the theive problem here in SoCal I don't regret it. Ive driven a GSR, 300z, 300ZTT. TT Supra, 350Z, S2K, & a Testerossa, I love to drive the R more than these others. Power to weight ratio is perfect IMO. Handeling can't be beat!

I got the ITR because I could afford to put gas in it for the same power a 5 liter mustang would give me, although I couldn't afford to run around as much if i had to put gas in one of those... I also bought the ITR because I wanted Honda reliability, and plug and play VTEC... Not to mention its close to 110 hp to liter ratio Stock, which in 1998 was the best in the world for a N/A car, then the S2k came along... Hell I could go on and on and on about why I got the Itr, people thought i was crazy to put all this money in a car that seamed to offer so little for the buck... they have never driven one, or sat in one either, or they would have reconsidered... I think it's best that i finish with the words of my friend while we we're sitting 3 in the car while i was in my second year of ITR ownership "Your car is the only car that I get a kick out of from the back seat"

I don't want another given how things are

Now in a world without theft, the ITR would be my winter beater

Ok seriously because it will get you laid way more often lol. Chicks dig Type R's.

But yea, its an amazingly fun car to drive everyday regardless of if its stock or modded. If you've had a bad day there is no other car that makes me feel as free as my R. Not a M3, STI, SRT4, or Evo, I've been in/ driven all these cars and for some reason my R still feels the most raw and fun to drive of all of them. This is of course my opinion though lol

I'd never think the ITR would be such a chick magnet.. hmmm this is going to be tough. Fortunately I live in an area where theft really isn't an issue, but you never what can happen. Now the question is, FBP or PY (don't answer that one, it could go on forever)

1. It's extremely fun to drive, period. It sounds like a race car, it rides like a race car, it shifts great and is extremely responsive. It just does want you want it to do exactly WHEN you want it to do it.

2. It's one of the few cars that seems to actually ENJOY having the **** beat out of it. With most other cars every time you beat on it there is something in the back of your mind going "oh man I hope nothing breaks this time". A Type-R just seems to laugh at this notion.

3. I can get 30-32mpg highway consistently.

4. It's extremely practical. Hatchback =

5. It's cheap to maintain especially as any sort of track/auto-x car.
