Putting a D16Z6 head on my D15B2.The head is off and right now I'm in the process of trying to get whats left of the head gasket off and smoothed out.My question is how concerned should I be about scraped up gasket and metal shavings:#1-falling into the piston sleeves and any of the other cooling holes around the block surface??? Obviosly I will clean it and air blow it before mounting the head but I'm worried about crap falling into the outer cylinder walls where the coolant is??? Anybody been through this and/or have any suggestions??? Thanks
When i do a head gasket i fill the car up with oil(Cheap oil and maybe some sea foam) and coolant(just use water) run it for say 5 min and then drain and replace both the oil, filter and coolant with some new stuff, maybe thermo too, this allows the crap to drain out and shouldn't do any damage...you can also use a shop vac and suck out the watter jacket if you want , aslong as there isn't any large peices you should be cool
