It has been brought to my attention today that on Saturday, October 7th, my presence will be required at an economics conference. I discussed the matter with both the department chair and the college Dean, however, since I aided in the paper that is to be presented, my participation is mandatory in order to receive course credit for my contribution towards the paper. Failure to attend would result in failure of the course and repeating it would be necessary; not to mention damage my credibility as an academic.

<FONT SIZE="+2">MEET CANCELED FOR THE WEEKEND OF THE 6TH. If you are available for the weekend of the 13th, please post. If there are enough people, the meet will be MOVED TO THE WEEKEND OF THE 13TH.</FONT>

I am very sorry to have to cancel it, especially at such short notice. I have talked with many of you about how much I have been looking forward to this meet and how much I needed a break from school. So please understand that this is the LAST thing I want to do, however, I have little option. I apologize to all, especially those who have taken off work in order to attend. If you can not accept my apologies, I understand completely and will not hold it against you.

For whatever it's worth, the 13th - 15th conflicts with a Summit Point weekend for some people in that part of the world.

Fri 13th = BSR Friday at the track
Sat 14th/Sun 15th = Honda Challenge races

 

i'm game for anyone of those weekends, just let me know!!

As well as having the Oct Summit event, there is a synergy racing event at VIR on Oct 21-22. I vote for the beginning of the month

Sounds pretty entertaining actually.. Going into the West Virginia woods with strangers that have firearms!

The first weekend is good for me! I'll be at Summit Point for the NASA event too so that's def out . Also an important fact to know... VA has reciprocity with WVA! So I'm in!!

The 11th-15th is also Autumn Glory Festival in Garrett County, which could be interesting. The forests should be at or near peak color for any of the first 3 weekends, past peak after that, so I don't think the last weekend would be prime on that account. The last weekend could also be getting into quite chilly weather, we have had major ice storms toward the end of October before.

I should be able to make any of the dates, as long as the schedule at work doesn't change (we have a big conversion on the 1st, which could slip a week).

I'm not voting for now, we'll see what everyone decides, but Brad and I will be dealing harshly with those who talk the talk and then bail out (like last year).

That weekend is also a Mid-Ohio event. I vote for the earliest option.

You should have quite a bit of fun before you even get there if you come across rt50. The strech between Clarksburg and Brad's place is quite twisty

Early October is best weather wise. The leaf festival in Garret County is amazing. Late October is major weather concern. On the top of the mountain, temps will go down into the 20's and 30's at night by the end of October.Ice and snow are a real concern towards the end of the month.

It's a VERY fun route to drive. I think we should take that route in the NSX this weekend!

It's only a 15 hour drive from you according to mapquest, so you should be able to make it in 12-13.

Free place to stay, grill'n, booze, guns (and some surprises), spirited driving, scenic mountain overlooks, and hunting for floosies.. what more can ya ask for?
