Ferrari F355 Challenge. It'll cost you a pretty penny, I'm assuming.

Simbin's GTR seems like it's pretty damn good on the simulator tip.

GTR 2 comes out sept 30th. I have been playing the demo. Seems pretty real, grafixs could be better..

the other one I have been told is one of the nascar sim games.. (you can pluging road coarses, and other cars)

You could also check out any of EA's F1 games...they are pretty realistic and the car setup is very complete.

do you know what physics engine GTR 2 uses?
the first GTR used an ancient engine from the old EA F1 games.

You can get a clutch pedal set for GT4/most sim games. It won't unlock the shifter till you press it in, and it affects the gas when you press it.. (disables it), and also you can buy a hydaulic pedal set too

I recommend Pole Position by Activision. It came out in the 80s, but really the technology was way ahead of its time.

Try the GTR2 demo... it's extremely good for the most part. The only complaint I have with it is that the tire model is great in the slow speed stuff but high speed response seems a little too numb (to me GTR1 was better in this regard, but the grip was somewhat lacking). The sounds are even better than GTR, which had the best sounds bar none. Love the backfire from the Saleen S7R, it changes with engine load and how you let off the throttle and go down through the gears.

Very nice video essay of the GTR2 demo

Here a video of me driving the demo (Ferrari 550 at Suzuka), gives you a feel of how the car responds from the actual steering wheel inputs and screen movement - I was pushing the 550 to the max to test the physics

And here's the official site where you can get the demo from

GTR1 for comparison (Porsche 911 GT3 RS at Sebring)

It uses a modified GM2 engine (the one from Rfactor and GTL). GTR1 was a custom reworked ISI engine and was really good IMO; just needed more physical tire grip.

I wonder what the requirements are going to be

*saves up for RAM and 22" widescreen monitor*

Who makes a pedal/shifter combo with a functional clutch? I know there was one company a while ago that had one, but it was discontinued..

Logitech is coming out with the G25 in a few months... should be decent quality for around $300. Other than that the FREX kits for the DFP make it into a pretty nice controller (for a pretty price though!). Another ther controller option is TSW (non force-feedback though).

My controller setup is a Logitech DFP for wheel, accelerator, and brake and a logitech Wingman Formula GP for clutch.

You really do need a good system to run GTR/GTR2... lots of processing and graphics power is needed to run it at max settings.

I play this every friday. 3 monitor setup, 21" in the middle and a 19" on either side. Pedals, wheel and a "special" chair we use. Get's pretty entertaining. We just loaded Sebring to it.

Do you have an Ati video card...it's a known issue with the older 8xxx and 9xxx series ATi video cards. I had the same problem with a CTD when the track was loading (it's a texture issue with the Barcelona track), but there is a workaround - you can load up 3rd party tracks for GTL legends! Here is the links that tells you how to put GTL addon tracks into the GTR2 demo:

http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=261206

And if you want to fix the Barcelona issue to drive Barcelona check out this thread:
