help removing cooling fan switch/////
in the haynes it say the fan switch should be located on the bottom of the radiator but my brother told me it was located in the back of the motor by the oil filter.. well it a bitch to get your hand back there and i dont really know how to get to it and screw it out, i did check my fan and they still work.... well does any body know how to rig their fan to run manually with a switch. i think i could do that if i cant fixed the fan switch....thanks
Your brother is wrong and the book is right. Your brother is talking about the temp sender that controls your temp guage. As far as hotwiring the fan run 12v to a two way switch, then run a wire from the switch to the positive wire of the fan.
To further elaborate on what 1 Fly SI said, I ran my manual switch this way. Run a ground from the battery to the switch. Run a ground from the switch to the fan. Run a +12V from the battery to the fan. Then you should be all set. The fan just operates on 12V. One wire is black and the other is some different color. Make sure you run the +12V to the other colored one, because if you get it backwards, the fan will spin the wrong way.
The fan switch is located on the back of the block for OBD0 motors and on the thermo housing for the OBD1 and up motors...the temp sensor for you guage is located on the head near the dizzy

there is a relay located near the pass. head light, look at your book and figure out the wiring you should be able to do a simple switch from that, I acctually think you could just pull the plug of the sensor on the back fo the block ( don't unscrew the sensor of you will have a huge coolant leak
) since the sensor just makes a complete circut when it reaches a certain temp and turns the fan on you should be able to manula complete the circut with a switch, look at some wiring diagrams and you could figure it out pretty easy
