Default Need feedback on Altezza style tail lights (sorry! minimize flames please!)

First of all I want to say that I am not a fan of altezza-styled lights at all, and in fact, I look upon them with the same disgust as most import enthusiasts nowadays. For the most part, "rice" does not appeal to me, but I just had an idea.

However, my idea is that I was thinking how it would turn out if you painted the top half of the gen1 style lights? I'm getting a set of the gen1's (two ovals top half, clear bottom half) thru a trade maybe(nobody wants to buy my stock front sway bar), and the only reason I am getting them is that I want to paint them like oem 99-00 tails and see how it turn out. I personally think this isnt a bad idea if done right, because you'll retain the stock clean look yet your white bottom half will become a lot cleaner. I know the altezzas are cheap quality and probably nowhere near as bright as stocks, but i think it's worth a try, and if it turns out bad I'll try to sell it to another newbie/ricer.

What do you guys think? Has anyone done this? Pics?

yeah i guess...

but see the dilemma for me is that i really am against altezza("ricer style" in general) because I think thats just poser (although my interior is "rice" as well but IMO clean and oem color schemed). I really am going against my own taste on this one, YET my more creative side of me is wanting to try to make those lights look oem and if they turn out "not that rice" then should be ok.

yeah so basically im debating... really don't like ricey products, but then really want to try out this idea because i seen it done on tegs and looks not bad.

sigh

It's been done and it looks okay. SiRocket on ClubSi used to have the Stocktezzas. Not worth it IMO, but knock yourself out.
