Default Recommend High mileage oil for ITR(searched)

I've searched, and i found opinion from other integra owner but none were ITR owners.

I just wanted the opinion of ITR owners on which High mileage oil you would recommend.
ITR owner with +100k, what are you guys putting in for every oil change?

Right i'm using 5w-30 Castrol high mileage.

Also i was concern with the reliability of High mileage oils at autox events because i have one coming up in the next week.

thanks in Advance

Is the car burning oil? If not, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it is, try say a 10-30 instead of a 5-30.

yea i believe it is burning oil. i've put a lil less than 1,000 miles within 3week of gettin an oil change on my car, and i think i've burned a fair amount. Do you think i should still switch from 5w-30 to 10w-30 with the fact that i'm burning oil?

I use Amsoil for every oil change. My car has not reached the mileage of ur car, but this oil is proven great for both high mileage vehicles and racing (in ur case auto-X).
Check them out on their website. https://www.amsoil.com/

Why would a high milage oil do worse at an autox than a "regular" oil?

If I recall correctly when from when I read bobistheoilguy forums reguarly, the high-milage Castrol is a very good oil with a higher-than-most content of moly in it.

I am in southern california and i'd stick to 5w30. 5w40 if you must. 10w30 does not improve or worsen the oil burning problem on my car.

I was using Mobil 1. But it's pretty hard to ignore Pennzoil Platinum (also 100 percent synthetic) when you can get it for $3.97 at Wal-Mart and then get a $15 gift card on a purchase of six. (It was even better in July, when you could get $15 from Pennzoil AND another $15 from Pep Boys...)

<----Burns oil too. I was going to ask the same thing sometime soon.

Right now I'm using Castrol SYntec 5w30 with 100,000 miles and I'm burning 1 quart per oil change, however, I think my rings have seen better days as White smoke was coming out of the exhaust at the top of first gear at the last Auto-x (This is after I switch to the T1R resonated testpipe) . I was hoping to avoid a rebuild for a while as the car runs like a champ, gets great gas mileage and doesn't burn excessive oil yet.

good to know i'm not the only one in this boat. I can also agree that my rings have seen better days. Sorry if this seems like a newbie question, but I was curious to know what is including for the rebuild on a B18c5 motors? Might as well replace my 3rd gear syncro when i get a rebuild.

I don't know if it was said yet, but 5w-30 and 10w-30 are both the same weight of 30 after heated up. 5w-30 and 10w-30 only are different at cold starts. So no, it would not help with the burning of oil.

Valvoline Maxlife dino or synthetic. You could read up about it on s2ki.com (forums) and on bobistheoilguy. It can be found very cheap. Hell, I just bought a years worth of oil changes for free, due to their recent promotions/rebates.

IF its burning oil, that means something have screwed up and time to replace. changing oil wont cut it. yes the car will still last a while. but if you end up like me who burned 1 Liter every 1000km you will find it a real PITA.

It maybe just the seals, the head gasket, cylinders or it could be pistons.

I would say take it to the shop and have it check.

worse case. P/H cylinder Head gasket and new set of OEM pistons doesnt cost that much. and you can possibly know what else might screw soon and replace them before something dirty happens.

It's normal for an ITR to burn some oil. If it's less than one quart per 1000 miles, it's nothing to worry about (other than making sure to add oil to keep it full).

Yeah i know its normal, but OP didnt say how much oil it burned..my engine before rebuild burn 1 quart every 4-500km.. so you can imagine how bad it is.

plus.. iif you drive it slow, no hard reving, oil burn much less. i didnt see track lately, but after 2000km of street driving (no hard revs).. even its fresh rebuild. it seems i have none oil lost.
