Depressed. Selling the Type R
Hi guys.
Well, as many people know, my car has been for sale for the past few months. Tomorrow, I am going to drive to San Diego to meet a guy who will probably become its next owner. Although my #43 was not a daily driver...or even a monthly driver, it has been my reliable companion as I plunged into the world of track events. I've learned how to drive fast, and I've met lots of great people at the track. Some of them are now good friends.
As I was gathering my paperwork, taking the car to get the required smog check, finding all the keys and alarm dongles, I'm struck by how sad I am to let it go. I've spent a lot of time under it changing oil, changing brake pads, swapping tires, and fretting over every little scratch and tire rubber mark. I never went crazy with it in terms of mods, but I still feel like it is customized just the way I like it.
Even the negatives of the car, mainly the damn thieves and haters that seem to be attracted to it, don't lessen my affection for it. I've just kept it locked away and drove it purely for fun. Through Ortega Hwy. Up PCH. Down the Corkscrew. It is depressing and a serious problem in society that we can't all enjoy our cars and must stay paranoid and alert whenever we park.
So tomorrow, assuming deal goes through, I'm going to be going for the last drive to deliver the car. And I will try to enjoy it. Damn, I love this car.

Hey Glen:
i guess it's kinda good that you've found a buyer, yet sad to see it go. Too bad you can't drive the race car on the street

Damn thieves. I just can't wait until they come to my house again with my Glock in my nightstand.
Think about it hard, don't let thieves decide what you drive. I almost gave up and I don't even have an R but I decided to rebuild my GSR and make my car better than ever.

Hey Glenn, if i had the money i would have given her a good home. For a good hour i had my gf convinced that she wanted an R. Then she brought up how i'm always watching mine. Oh well, as you say, it's sad things are the way they are.
Hope she finds a good home.

aww man, that is touching. some people think it's strange to get so attached to an object... but I too love my cars so much after a few good drives in them.
I was feeling really bad too, then I saw your SIG! AAAAAAAAAAH! track monster!

I kept thinking more and more about selling mine.
I'm so sick of all the damn thieves and vandals.
Just the other day an EBP '99 Si was stolen from a good part of town (lots of traffic/people around that area). I never knew that theft was becoming a big issue for me until now.

I wish I could have had gotten to this point with my ITR!
I rode with you at the ITR Expo in this car and I was very impressed with your ITR. But be glad that you had a chance to do all that stuff with your ITR and you have a chance to sell it! I didn't get to track my car as much as I wanted to and I was deprived of the chance to sell it. Goddam thieves!
Good luck w/ the race ITR!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Okay, just got back from San Diego. The new owner has initials C.D. Don't want to give it away yet, because he hasn't told his friends what he has bought. He is a pretty good guy, and will give #43 a good home. Here he is with his girlfriend in a picture I took this morning.
I wish him luck, and I hope he has fun! Hopefully, I can convince him to come out to Touring Car Club and take a few laps.
Now I must look for a good used tow vehicle to tow the "other" car.
