Well then you really don't need our help because what I think looks good and what name brands I like probably isn't the same as yours.

Actually, the Kumho SPT is usually priced less than the ES100 or the Direzza DZ101, after you take the $40 rebate into account.

Not really. They're pretty even.
The SPT, Direzza, and ES100 are all pretty similar. The SPT is usually the least expensive and performs slightly better than the others, which is why I usually recommend the SPT first, over the other two. But they're all very good tires at a very good price. Get whatever you want.

yep, i got it yesterday. the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. originally i wanted 195/50/15 but the guy say he can get the 205/50/15 for the same price and he has them in stock. so i went ahead and put a deposit on the rims/tires package. the rims will remain a mystery for now.
what i like to know is do you guys approve on the 205? i've noticed a lot of members here on H-T use 205 anyways but 195 was my original plan.

It depends on the car.
195/50-15 is the best size for a CRX, del sol, pre-'96 Civic, '96 Civic DX and '96 Civic hatchbacks.
205/50-15 and 195/55-15 are the best sizes for an Integra, '97-00 Civic, and all other '96 Civics.

Ya ask, then purchase next time!
the 205 you might have some rubbing... and your speedodometer will be off. Apart form that you wont really see any performance avantages over the 195.

i did research study and everything. in my heart i like the 195 and i should go with what my heart tells me. that salesman said to go with 205, but i had 195 in mind. sometimes people will always try to change your mind. i will listen to my heart and my mind only. i will definately give him a call or go back to the shop and requested a 195.. for sure.
he does have the fm901 in stock in size 195/50/15 but only one and he can get the other 3. only downside is it cost ten dollars more. i figure clearence item should be cheaper in this case its not. if it was the same $ i would grab the fm901.
let see how this turn out on monday.

The Dunlop FM901 is crap. Nowhere near as good as the Direzza DZ101, Yoko ES100, or Kumho SPT. Don't get the FM901.
Here's a concept: Decide on what you want and get it, instead of getting stuck with what your salesman tells you to get because that's what he has in stock.

Buy the wheels from him. Buy the tires YOU want from the Tire Rack, Discount Tire Direct, or some other tire shop.
In 195/50-15, the Tire Rack sells the Kumho SPT for $41 after rebate, Direzza DZ101 for $47.50 after rebate, and Yokohama ES100 for $59.

first shop i called was DTD, they said i have to wait 20-30 days. i can't wait that long. don't remember if i call tirerack. for some reason i'm just not turn on by kumho brand.
so the fm901 sucks? they look sexy on the sidewall though. if he can't get me the 101 in 195 i will make him get me the fm901 at the same price. if i cancel my order, do i get my deposit back in full amount?

All three of the tires I mentioned are in stock at the Tire Rack. They ship them out the same day you order.

Yes. That's why Dunlop developed and introduced the Direzza DZ101, because the FM901 was so bad it couldn't compete with the ES100.

So if he can't get you a good tire in your size, you will "make him get you" a BAD tire in your size? Why don't you get the tire YOU want, instead of getting stuck with a crappy tire?

You should, but you will have to ask him, not us. Tell him you're not happy because he only wants to sell you tires that are the wrong size or are crap.

sup guys, i called the salesman today and requested for 195/50/15. he didn't give me a hard time but he didn't sound eagerly like the first time he talked to me. i thought i was gonna get it cheaper than the 205 but the a$$ said it was the same price.
sorry to thread jack but im looking for tires for my hx rims for the winter. i would prefer all season tires as i might want to ride on my hx's in the summer. what tire is good or best at an offordable price? thanx
sorry again
sorry again

i have the kumho spt in 205/50/15 and i love it, great traction w/ low noise, and 100000x better than the stock michelin's on my 99 civic si.
