Clutch or tranny problem? can't get into gears
I was sitting at a red light yesterday and was about to engage into a gear but i clutched down (felt a little vibration) and couldn't get into any gears. Turned off the car and put it into first and started it and heard a bit of grinding but it worked and I was able to drive a bit with some rough shifting.
Later on that night it happened again but when i turned it off and started with gear engaged it lunged forward even though the clutch was fully depressed. Again things started working fine and feels even smoother?! I know I should be concerned still but not sure where I should start to look for problems now.
Thanks

clutch won't disengage. either the throwout bearing is busted, or your slave cylinder is gone. Have someone press the clutch pedal and see if the slave cylinder moves the release fork (inside that rubber boot on the front of the tranny). If so then it's something inside and you'll have to pull the tranny.
what year car, as in early 90s integra had a mechanical clutch (no fluids)
and the 94+ had hydraulic trannies...
If the clutch pedal just drops to the floor in a hydraulic tranny you know that you are losing fluid somehow (either an air bubble or a break in the line or one of the cylinders for that system)
if its mechnical and it drops to the floor then perhaps you just snapped the connector on the line down by the transmission(has happened to me before) 100 part and you're good to go (by oem though!)
if it still feels like it has pressure in the pedal(not dropping to the floor) then its probably more serious such as the clutch being completely used up... you usually notice this early however because you will start revving real high before the clutch engages, even when the pedal is completely out.
it could also be the throwout bearing like this guy is saying if you just can't get it BACK OUT of gear... although my understanding is the throwout bearing is the secondary to the clutch.. like if you can't get the clutch down, the throwout bearing will let it slide back out of gear by yanking on the shifter.

If the clutch is completely used up (like my brother's car was) then he could put it into gear without the car stalling or anything. If you can't get it into gear then that means the clutch is engaged, and something is keeping it from disengaging.
It's a 95 so it's a hydro tranny, the clutch goes down as it should but like Patrick said it's not disengaging. I just rebled my slave cylinder... I notice it squeaks a lot still and the rubber boot around the fork has a rip in it.. I don't think that's normal
What happens when the fork gets a lot of dirt in it? the squeaking but what else could go wrong?
So far today it drives like it should and I don't feel any problems (cept the squeaking)
