thanks for the help- suspension/brake setup works great.
i asked a few question and recieved some good answeres here- this is some feed back from what i did and learned. 96 ek dx hatch
eiback sportlines are fine for daily drivers (a little hard on small ledges like steel plates and out of whack expansion joints) and work really well for what i want (a good handling daily driver)and they were cheap. ($60 used)
koni yellows are great- the adjustibility is key- highly reccomend as did everone here. ($250 slightly used)
rear disk conversion is worth it in my opinion (i love good brakes) i left the stock front calipers and porportioning valve and put the si mater cylender on with ate super blue, hawk pads, stainless lines, and the car sits down with no dive and stops NOW. the rears do release, they do not drag, and they are balanced with the front (i can brake into a corner and the tail does not come out unless i give the steering a bump in to rotate the car. I vote with the people who said the poportioning valve from a 96-00 cx dx works with rear disks. i will evebtually put ex si calipers/brackets/disks/knuckes on the front which i am guessing will move the braking bias from neutral back to a front bias, which i am not sure i am going to like, but stopping distance and fade resistance will improve.
password jdm (where i bought the rear trailing arms calipers ect) was not a good deal at $170. i seems like a good deal but they want $100 for shipping and the bushings were shot and the calipers were rusted in the bore so they were just expensive cores. i should have scoured classifiedes or junkyards.
right now with 185 55 14 one ply sidewall ziex on hx rims the braking and handling are massivly improved, and with 195 50 14 2 or 3 ply sidewall tires on the same rims things will get quite a bit better still. the brakes which would fade to useless after a couple of miles of spirited twistie driving now work great with a touch of fade when smoking hot, and the car feels like a go kart. on to the motor. Honda's Rock!!!
