Default is my fuel pressure dropping too fast?

i've been trying to figure out if i have a fuel leak for a while and i finally got a fuel pressure gauge installed. its a mechanical gauge that connects at the fuel filter. my car idles with about 46 psi of fuel pressure. when i shut off my motor and run around and look under the hood the pressure has already dropped to 40-42 psi. i don't know anything about fuel pressure so i don't know if that is normal, it just seems like a pretty big pressure drop over the span of 1-2 seconds. and my car is all the way down at 0 psi after i let it sit over night. i think i have a leaking injector, because my exhaust smells really rich and my car has a hard time with warm start-ups. any help or info about normal fuel pressure numbers is appreciated!
