Default obd1 p72 in 96 gsr

Ok, my problem is that ever since I put in the p72 obd1 in my 96 gsr i keep on getting the CEL on when ever i get to about 50mph. when I turn off the car and put the ignition to ON it doesn't hold the CEL but it would pop back on when i get to about 50mph. So sadly I change the ECU back to the p75 obd2 which was on my car when i bought it and now its holding the CEL and its idling kinda bad. When i start the car the rpm would drop to almost 0 and back up until it idles at about 1. I check the CEL code and it was throwing a Map sensor. I try switching the ecu to the p72 obd1 and it does exactly the same like the p75 just that it doesn't hold the CEL when its on the ON position. So the problem is how do i fix this. Do i change the map sensor? or try using a p72 obd2 ecu since the stock ecu is really a p72 obd2? I also notice the my exhust smell is kinda rich, too much gasoline or something smell.

thanks for any help.

If you're throwing a Map sensor code when runing the stock ECU changing ECU wouldnt fix it, you'll have to switch out the map sensor for another one, or maybe you have a bad connection check that, or a faulty map sensor plug.

Just to make sure you are running a OBD2-OBD1 Conversion harness right?

I've been told you have to reset your ecu whenever your swap them out. I know there's some type of procedure such as removing battery cable or ecu fuse then letting the car idle for a while, something like that.

yea i also got the conversion harness obd2a-obd1. On my fuse box under the hood my labeling of the fuses are all warned out so I don't remeber which fuse is the ecu. I think it was the blue or 15 fuse in the left top corner. So i should try to change the map sensor? should any map sensor as long as its b series work the same. How about those jdm map sensors on ebay. There the only one i see.

thanks
