Fast Idle Thernal Valve and Air Bleeding
Vehicle: 94 Accord, 4 cyl V-TEC
FITV --
I see two end caps on the FITV. Do these need to come off for cleaning the valve?
REFILLING WITH COOLANT --
Since this part has coolant flowing thru it, and is located above the air bleed hole (physics says air will rise to the highest spot in a system with water, and that is why plumbers bleed at the highest radiator), how is the air eliminated?

unbolt the valve from the intake body and you will see the in and out ports.
As far as the air the coolant doesn't run thru the top of the valve, just the lower part and I'm sure the Honda engineers look at the situation.
I promise if you burp the block thru the bleed screw at the T-stat housing there will be very little air in the system.
Could you tell us WHY you've decided the cleaning of the FITV is needed?
Perhaps someone here might have some good info about your problem

Well, the vehicle was not maintained by the former owner. I have been fixing the various problems as I become aware of them, as well as, attending to items to prevent problems later on. I really had no idea of the condition of the FITV or the IACV, but since the Throttle Body did need cleaning, I also took off the other parts to see the condition. And once I had them off, it made more sense to clean them then and avoid it later on. The IACV was caboned up, and they FITV had a sludgy coolant residue in it. These parts are also valves, and I pay attention to the word "valve" which denotes a movable part and is usually a cleanable item.
Since I am on the topic of valves. Are there any solenoid valves on the car that I should look at that are fixable or at least cleanable? Some vehicles solenoid valves are part mechanical and part electrical. But I am not as familiar with Hondas as I am other vehicles (my first Honda).
