loose camshaft sprocket bolt sounds like valve clatter
hi all.
i posted a quesion about sudden valve clatter a few weeks ago. Turns out that the bolt holding the intake cam sprocket had backed out. The jerky turning of the cam produced what sounded like valve clatter. I sanded off the rough spots on the cam, slipped on a new sprocket and a new woodruff key, lock-tited the bolt in place and all is well. Just thought I'd pass that on, because at the junkyard (where we got the "new" sprocket) the car there had DIED of the same problem.
