Found a 94 ls gsr swap for sale... need advice
I found a 94 ls with gsr swap and a jdm front end. The owner says the car just passed smog five months ago, and that the reason for the salvage title was due to something with the windsheild an moonroof... heres the link to the car . what should i look for when i go see it? what should i ask the seller about the car? thanks

I would look for receipts and paper work...It seems like it need alot of cosmetic work...but thats up to you if you can handle all that. Also the usual rust and if your really interestead then get it compression tested to see what kind of shape that motor is in...GL
Def ask for paperwork from where the swap came from. Personally i would never buy anything thats stolen or has stolen parts in it. As atg1290 mentioned it does need some body work/paint. Check to see how the gaps between the body panels are and how everything is aligned. I would be cautious about a slavage title. Open the hood and look around the powersteering area (drivers side) and abs area (passanger side) and look to see if you notice any ripples, dents or anything weired in the frame rails. If you can take it to a mechanic that you trust to go over it and see the overal condition. Check out paperwork for all recent maintenance. Im guessing it has 138k miles, make sure they had the timing belt done, when was the clutch replaced. Look into it to make sure they did the major services, cause that could add up to another 1000 bucks in service. Also, if possible take it to a body shop to check it over to see if its been in a collision.

that car looks like it's tricky, seller got some tricks up his sleeves.. my personal opinion i wouldn't buy it, jsut for peace of mind... they don't even show you the whole car.... and why would the ad want to trade that for a civic ex if it were legit??? and a winshield and moon roof ain't gonna salvage out your car.. that's like 5 hundred bucks for the two at most, and the cars def. worth more than that... on a positive side you can buy it, earl scheib it($300 )and try and flip it for 6-7k or maybe not... haha
I would wonder why someone would just throw a jdm front on a car, not paint it and sell the car, it looks like the salvage is from a front end colision because the fender doesnt look like it lines up very well on the drivers side
as for the smog, the car must be smogged within the past 3 months to transer it to a new owner, so if you guy it you will have to smog it again, so if you do end up purchasing it tell him that he has to smog it again because it is requred by law for him to

take a soft cloth towel or t shirt and a decent size magnet and run it across the body and if it sticks it's good, and if it doesn't bondo!
That car just looks like a lemon. The fenders dont line up right at all. I would stay away from that half-baked project car.
