I'm gauging interest in putting a team together to split costs for a 24hr race karting event at Moroso Motorsports Park in January.
Here is the link:
http://endurancekarting.com/Schedule.html
Scroll down and you'll see the Moroso event twice. Once in december for a standard couple of races and then again in January for their special 24 Hour event.
I'm not looking for anyone special, but any experience is obviously a plus. We aren't looking to be competitive. We are trying to split costs and have a great time! If anyone is interested just reply to this thread and we can talk.
Pricing is here:
http://endurancekarting.com/Pricing.2006.html
Everything and I mean everything is provided to you at the cost of the event including the kart and all race gear, so don't fret about that. The only thing I ask for is that you've been on a race kart before. THESE THINGS ARE NOT YOUR TYPICAL PUTT-PUTT AND GO KART STYLE GO KARTS. If you haven't been on one, you'll be a danger to yourself and everyone trying to get around you.
They are offering a karting school during their december event at Moroso (not part of the 24hr). If you take that, then you are ready for the experience.
Here is the link for event information about the 24hr:

If we can't get enough interest in the 24hr, we can also do their 6 hour in december so let's do this!

Pat McGroin
Turbogixxer -possible
Cobra Tim -possible

Either the 6 hour or the 24 Hour. Depending on the response.
I believe the 24 Hour is $7,700/team of up to 10 people and the 6 hour is much less at $1685/team of up to 5 people.

I think it is going to be hard to pull a team together for 24 hour race (and have them show up, race)
But I have never done this.

Yea, well, hopefully we can get five. Jose is actually the one that told me about it and he is already down. So with you, that's three. We could race the GTS class (rookies only) and probably do very well. How about Joe?

Until jose pays, he is not in.
I will ask him

Wow I show you this and you dont even ask me. I am down especially for a 24hr race, best part is they provide everything besides food.
For a 24 hour race I foresee a lot of people cancelling last minute, it would probably be more feasible to do a 6 hour race.
You can put a deposit down and not pay the full price until 30 days before the race.

I've done autocross before and raced some karts but never the full out racing ones. My friend in Daytona knows how to race them and I'd love to give it a try. I am "drivingly" inclined and get a hold of this reallly quick.
I was looking into this myself, and I was gonna put a group of friends to do this! It sounds like a lot of fun! I have a few questions though! I have been to moroso before and raced their karts and they seemed slow, are the karts in the race series the ones they use daily? I wish I could race with you guys I'm pretty damn fast, but I don't think I have the money! GOOD LUCK!

No. These karts are provided by the company that puts on this event. They are 11whp semi-full race karts. Everything is as it would be on a race kart, they are just a bit slower; however, in comparison to anything but a full race kart they are very fast.

I would definintely be in for the 6 hour, if you get a full complement (4 or 5 more).
I've been building and racing low-hp ATV Buggies for 3 years, as well as some Auto-X and demonstration experience. I have a good record of podiums (6; 10 Top 10s in 12 Events, 5 of those being Endurance events). This would be my first racing experience in a kart.
Let me know.

Awesome, currently we have myself, Turbogixxer, and Pat McGroin.

24 hours...that's masochistic.
Karting for that long isn't something you just jump into...even if it is split amongst 10 people. I hope you all have really light helmets, or REALLY strong necks. The massive amounts of castor on karts also means you need crazy strong forearms too. Get workin', you pervs.

I got 23 years of working forearms. Plus, gloves and a neck brace will help out that.

fo' shizzle, when do you want to meet up? Unless you want to blow $340 or so on real race kart practice, we can hit up the revamped Xtreme Indoor. The karts are decently fast and it's much much cheaper.
