Default Stored bike bringing to LIFE!!!

I haven't riden my 2003 F4i in a couple of months and I finally fired it up last weekend. Just to make sure, I took it to a motorcycle shop and they are charging me $130 for the following:

- oil change
- pull apart the rear wheel and perform a fix a flat, turns out i have a nail stuck.
- grease up the chain

The question, am I paying too much or am I getting a decent deal for this job?

Thanks in advance.

its not horrendous, although you could probably do most of it yourself. the rear wheel being the only thing you couldnt do yourself very easily. although you could have just filled the tire with Slime, which is a tire sealer, then pulled the nail yourself.

so, you didnt get robbed, but you could have done most of it for next to free.

hmmm, well I think it is a little high for what they are doing but, I would have done the oil change and chain myself.

...and I would never run a rear tire that has been punctured and repaired. Replace that.

For that much you should have just spent a little more and got a rear tire. BTW- if you get the right tools you can save substantially by removing your wheel yourself and bringing it down to the shop for them.

hmmm. that's what I was thinking but they were saying other shop would definitely do it for $250 easy. The rear tire only has 3,000 miles on it so I would like to save it. I have never change my oil and filter so I just don't want to experiment on that nor lube my chains. How much should I bargain if I take it this Saturday to the shop?

Your getting HOSED....I can get a oil change and filter done here for $40.

Cleaning the chain and repairing a flat for $90 are you KIDDING me??

I think your getting screwed. I believe a tire repair at my shop costs about $40 as well...so thats still drastically less..

LoL... Ride to Anaheim shouldn't be that bad. The problem is that for $80 for the chain and oil change, that leaves $50 for a tire repair. Heck I might as well show up back to the shop since it's going to come out the same. hahaha!!!

Getting charged for lubing the chain is hilarious. It's literally like a 5 minute job, and if you can't do it yourself you shouldn't own a bike (although i'm not saying that you aren't capable).
And oil change you can do yourself, and on the F4i, it's a snap. Just buy some oil and a filter, which will bring you close to $40. Which would leave you with $90 to put towards a new rear tire.

It really depends on the bike. An oil change on mine is kind of a pain because I have to remove the lower fairing first. It takes me about an hour to do mine.

The labor charge here is $60 an hour.
