Default h23 oil pan

hey guys,

i need to know if an h23 oil pan will fit an h22 motor? i need a new oil pan and honda sells them for 210 dealer cost but my friend has an h23 one laying around that i can get off of him for 20 bux will it fit? thanks

^ yeah but urs is dented im not trying to run a dented one.. the h23 one i can get is mint! plus i dont have time to get it shipped i need it asap

even the SH pan will fit..... and its aluminum...

92-96 H22 and 92-96 H23 oil pans are exactly the same. They changed in 97+

i have a 5th gen a 1999 so bassically his 95 h23 wont fit with my block right?

I am almost positive it will bolt to it, if they are the same as 92-96 H22 pans like AndyD said, I think only the design changed slightly. Correct me if I am wrong.

the only difference is in 92-96 they have a gasket. 97-00 they just used hondabond.

so if i bolt up the h23 oil pan to my h22 im gonna need to use a gasket or should i still use hondabond?

if the pan is sheet metal it NEEDS a gasket. if its cast aluminum it can use hondabond only.

does anyone know if the pan is aluminum cause i need to know the type of fitting to get for it so i can weld it

aluminam pans are only the 97-01 h22 pans.
you can tell rpety easily by sight as well. the aluminum one looks like an aluminum sasting while the others are stamped sheet metal and usually black.
