Whats up with this? 89 civic radio wiring
hey, im having a problem with wiring my radio. ive never had a radio in this car, as it was stolen before i bought the car. so i bought a deck and for the long run i bought both ends of the harness. well the radio end of the harness hooks up fine color for color. but the male end of the connector does match up at all to the wires in my car. here's what i have so far:
White/blue- constant 12v
black-ground
gray, gray/black- right front speaker
blue, blue/yellow- left front speaker?
but then i have these other wires that don't make sense
yellow/red
red/yellow
brown/black
red/green
red/black
also what is the best method for tapping into a wire.
thanks in advance for the help!

They are not going to match color to color... Go to http://www.installdr.com and get the wiring colors. Then match up wire function to wire function....
huh?? why are u replacing the harness....
if u bought the right harness for ur car then you shouldn't have to tap into or cut off the oem harness...
imo: never cut harnesses!!!
tapping into wires.. using butt connectors and a crimping them...
however if u get noninsulated ur going to have to learn how to wrap the wires tight with eletrical tape... heat shrink is just a hassle.. imo... only worth it on the "exterior" connections.....

im not replacing the harness.im just adding the male end pigtail on to the end of it
just in case i ever get a different stereo. i was just having trouble finding an ignition hot wire. maybe i just had the voltmeter hooked up to a bad ground.
