I will be making a long distance road trip from Portland Or to Greenbay Wi, my question though is what would be the best tires for this kind of trip? The wheels i will be putting them on are 16's. Sorry im a complete NOOB at tires and such, just looking for a good low profile tire that can handle this kind of trip. Not really looking for a performance tire, just something that will ride smooth, keep me on the road, have good traction, low tread wear, and will work decent in the rain since i will be leaving in spring. Thanks guys
You can use any tire for the trip out in summer, and returning in the spring. A good summer tire (like the Kumho SPT) would be fine. However, if you need to be driving around on those tires over the winter in Green Bay (it's two words BTW), summer tires won't cut it, and you will need all-season tires for sure (winter tires would be even better, but if you're only going to be there one winter, I would just get all-seasons). In most sizes, I recommend the Kumho Ecsta ASX all-season tire, which is about as good as any all-season tire at an excellent price. Don't forget to mail in for your $40 rebate afterwards, within 30 days.
