getting new brakes
i'm getting new brakes/rotors this saturday and i was wondering what could be the best for a dd.
i have a 94 ls for dd and right now when i try and brake they just keep going down like theres no pressure.
i'm not to familiar with brakes, master cylinders and whatever but what could the problem be.
also what kind of brakes/rotors should i get, i hear oem is good for dd, i don't need anything to special and my financial issue is not a problem, hope you guys could give me some advice, tia!

OEM brakes and rotas are some of the best Brakes u can get. Spend the money were not talking about someting stylish, these are ur brakes u rely on these for ur life.... Id shell out a fex extra bux

For one, if your pedal is real weak and keeps going down, the problems can be many. You could have a leak in your system. Your brake fluid is so old that it is clogging one of your brake lines. Your master cylinder may need to be replaced. The O-ring gasket on your master cylinder can be busted. Try bleeding out all the brake fluid with some 30% alcohol.
Basically open up all the bleeders and pump out all the brakefluid, then fill it up with the 30% rubbing alcohol solution and pump that out, and then flush it again with brake fluid. Then close up all the bleeders and beging the bleeding process.
This should elimante some of the guessing. You will have new brake fluid in your system and you would have cleaned out all the crap in your system.
For my money I would buy EBC greenstuff brake pads. Great brake pads. I would buy OEM rotors. I would definitely get some stainless steel brake lines. You'll be braking like a champ.

No offense meant, but i can assure you this doesnt stop any better than a set of good pads and brembo blanks.

1ST flush your fluid, make sure no air in your brake line. (Motul 600 or other good ones)
Then if not good, try clean it as others said.
No need to change your pad/rotor unless it's wear out. If that's the case and you want peace of mind get Brembo blanks + good pads (Axxis Ultimate, Hawk HP, Bobcat, etc.)
If good pedal feel is what you're looking for, change to SS brake lines, just remember to clean them regularly.

For pads, OEM's are just fine, and don't dust alot. If you want a step up from that i would suggest Cobalt Friction GT Sports. IMO they are great, but you have to deal with a little more brake noise and more brake dust.
