Default 92 Accord Overheats after a few minutes

My 92 accord ex overheats when i drive it for few minutes. The car doesn't seize up but the internal gauge needle hits the red line. Originally I thought it was because of the coolant. I refilled the resevour and it still overheats. I started up the car again and i noticed that the radiator fan does not come on when I turn on the car. Is it safe to assume I need to get a new radiator fan? And is it easy to replace this or do I need a mechanic to replace it? Thanks.
