Default convince me

please honda-tech, convince me I really don't want my volkswagen vr6 anymore. I know some reasons why I don't want it. but I also have some reasons why I want it.

I want it because I love the interior and the ride quality. my fully done up suspesion rides better than any other car with suspesion I've been in. to put it an easier way, I love the interior.

its also going to be hard for me to leave the vw community. people are awesome. I'm new to honda community but I've slowely learned its almost identical.

I don't think I'm going to miss the vr6. low end torque, no top end. and slow 1/4th with a fully done up engine.

what am I going to expect from a honda?
I know they have slow(er) 60ft times than vws.

I'm going to be getting either a EK hatch or a integra and swapping a h22 engine with b series engine. I think its the best engine for money and torque.

help me out guys

2 very different cars

VR6 has huge low-end torque compared to our little hondas, but we have the nimbleness that the heavy front ended golf lacks. VW also has superior build quality at this price level, which makes your VW better as a everyday car.

If you want something that is agile, responsive and tickles you, get Integra R. If you want top end speed and grunt, keep the vr6, or get R32. If you want all of the above...go to subaru or mitsu.

as for reasons:
1: hondas are like working on lego's, there are a lagre ammount on interchangeable parts within engine series and different chasis types
2: parts are cheap and for the most part easy to find
3: the suspension designs are almost second to none for the prices, compared to many other imported as well as domestic cars
4: there is a large community of tuners and most are generally nice people
5: there are many different options engine wise, you can find someone that has just about done just about anything
6: the high-end power is awesome especially with a vtec motor
7:potential 8k+ revs

many more but those are why i love hondas

wow all very good responses and made fairly quick. the hardest part of this conversion for me is that i need to find someone to buy my car!

im also very picky when it comes to buying the right car. i really want a white ek or teg.

what are normal going rates for these cars in stock condition?

also, what are some name brands for honda.
or a site that i can learn specific information about a certaain engine an how it handles certain modifications, such as,
a site deticated to h22 or k20 engines and the pros and cons of each. i dont want b series since they dont have the torque, but i know that they can rev higher. everyone and their mother has bseries where i live.

a few people i know are highly lnoedgable about the h22, so thats another reason i want it.

what are the typical 'first mods' for hondas. for vws a simple k&n drop in filter, exhaust and ecu chip are sort-of mandatory mods.

i think i will be going with suspension first. then engine work. not too worried about looks since ill be going with type-r valences. (unless there are any other clean ones. wings west is a no-no)

is there a part of the forums deticated to h22 engines?

Hybrid Forum, there is a whole thread dedicated to the H22 swap. It's like 400 pages.

k20 = $$$$$$$

h22 = PM user "lan" for info

i would not rule out an LS (b18b) with some boost.

first mods usually include intake, header, exhaust, high flow cat.

by "type r" valances, do you mean the oem optional sides are rears? if so, expect to pay upwards of $500 for the sides, if you can even find them. the rear valances only fit the 98+ rear bumpers, and those are hard to find as well.

B-series on boost are quite a good source of useable torque

4- interchangable parts with honda and acura
5- upgrades are countless
6- reliable and high reving motor
7- numerous amounts of tuners everywhere
8- good mpg!
9- ..goes on and on!

LMFAO

Yeah GTI'S are sweet but if you want something that is fun to drive...can't go wrong with a HONDA. i wanted a 240 and a GTI before i test drove my GSR. 240 was slow as ***** soo i threw that out the window fast, GTI was fast but i just wasn't feelin it...and the GSR...was like sex. once you have it you can't live with out it. love the responsivness of it, yeah low end torque sucks, but once you hear that b-series scream it makes you forget about the lack of torque. and once i drove it on the mountains roads of saratoga i fell in love. my car is just lowered and no other mods done the the suspension but it handled really well. all i gotta say is, once you drive it you'll find out what the honda talk is all about!

yah man vtec on the gsr or any b/h/f-series with vtec..never disappoints you! , especially when you can take the RPM past 8k on a stock motor whenever you want, you can't argue the ingenuity and mechanics of it. simplicity and power rules!

im sure its hard and expensive to get done

for a 97 LS with water pump and new timing belt it costs $650 to get it done at a shop

the parts are around $150 with new cam seals, drive belts, water pump and timing belt, I did mine in about an hour and a half and it is pretty straight forward and simple, and saved myself $500

Get an Integra, because it already has the B series. Boost it with a moderately sized turbo... say a GT28RS and be amazed by the entire powerband. Then go get you a quality suspension. Take a ride in my Integra, and tell me that it doesn't out handle, and out ride anything that VW has made recently. However, I will not deny that the VWs interiors are a lot better than mine. Honda guys are a very close group of people, I have made friends with a lot of them on here.

RSR exmag..or apex world sport. sound is almost stock sometimes you actually want more sound from them. they even look stock too. RSR stop production of their exmag, but i think they already releasted there new one. someone wanna vouch for me on that?
