Default what are the symtoms of a clutch m/c?

today i go to take a drive and i noticed on the clutch pedal there is maybe 1/4-1/2" play. i looked under the hood and didn't see any leaks on the m/c and the slave cylinder. so my questio is, when they go bad, is there any symptoms kind of like the brake m/c or is it a straight blow out where fluid leaks everywhere? also, can i just adjust the bolt where the pedal stops, i noticed to it was far from it. or who knows maybe it's just me.

it might not actually leak in the engine bay. check under the dash where the MC bolts into the firewall.

also just because there is some play doesnt mean its the MC. check the adjustment. you can move it forward and back.

you have to pull the cotter pin out turn the "thingy" left or right which ever way u want it to go(up or down)reinstall cotter pin. check play in pedal

ya i know i wouldnt make it as an instructor....ha

thanks man, i just went outside to double check the play. it's more like a 1/4" at the most. maybe it's just me being paranoid. i'll make the adjustments later and see what happens, thanks.

If you are only talking about 1/4 inch I wouldn't mess with it. There is a spec in the manual fir the amout of clutch free play if there is not enough bad things can happen.
