Today I had a gentleman stop by the shop with some rims. He said he got them from a buddy of his when he raced his ITR. They are Revolution Wheels RFX modern line (U) as seen here They are in very good condition. 15x8 with a 5x114.3 lug pattern. They obviously take shanked lug nuts. What do you think is a reasonable amount to pay. I currently have no use for these pieces, but it doesnt seem like he wants too much.

Also, what is the current opionion on these rims? too wide? too heavy?
Thanks

Offset and weight (maybe bring a scale to the guy or something...)? I've never heard of them. This is entirely subjective, but they do LOOK kind of heavy.
there's different models, i have a catalog at home...
anyway, i've seen their wheels mostly used on rally cars or older honda's & datsun's.
If he doesn't want much, why not try 'em for the track or sell 'em and maybe make a buck?

WOW, I would definately pick them up if you could for cheap. Revolution wheels are great, very strong but lightweight race wheels. In the german car world they are a pretty few and far between for a nice set, and they are very sought after wheels. I have a set of 13 x 7 and they within 1 lb of a Panasport wheel in the same size if I remember correctly.
Good find.

They are good wheels, very old school for light, strong racing wheels. I have a set of 14x6s for my CRX that I keep my autocross or racing rain tires on.
There were some late repro Revolutions that had some cracking issues a few years ago but i think the importation of them stopped pretty quick then. Look for any cracking at the spokes but otherwise they should be a good purchase at the right price. There will definitely be a market to resell them if you can get them for a good price.

Funny that you've never heard of them. Revolutions were rather popular with autocrossers a few years back especially in 10" (Mini) and 13" (Civic/Rabbit/E21) sizes; unfortunately I don't see them too often anymore. They are very lightweight despite their beefy appearance, and plenty strong.

I just picked some used 15x6.5 of that model (same set that I had sold to my friend years ago and now bought back). They are very strong but not that light. On my scale, they weigh 15.5-16 lbs. I'm using them as street wheels for now (I just painted them and they look sweet on my 88 DX) because they are the heaviest of all my 15" wheels.
Interesting note 1: these were the official wheels for the 88-91 Civics from the Honda Michelin Challenge series, an old one-make championship we had in Canada. That's where this set originated.
Interesting note 2: These wheels were OEM equipment for one year on the Lotus Esprit Turbo (around 1993 IIRC).
