exactly, once you get the compressor, its easy to see where the ac lines run, they just disconnect with a wrench.....just get some tools and get out there

becareful when you start to release the pressure in the a/c lines. it took about 3-5 minutes to completely get all mine out. and it blows hard. haha. i was told it's not a good thing to release it to the atmosphere, but what can i do? lol
its really not that hard, i got lucky cuz i ran out of freon, so there was no compression in the a/c system, but go to this website for reference http://acuraautomotiveparts.or...y.jsp
be careful cuz the system is under pressure

All in all its pretty easy. Just unbolt the 4 bolts that attach the compressor to the block. Then follow the lines that go from the compressor. The high side and low side. (Make sure there isnt any freon in the system) U can relieve it by pushing the valve stem looking thing on the lines.
I think one line runs to the condensor which is in front of the radiator. Just unbolt the radiator(2bolts) on the front of the car. Push the radator forward. (easier with 2people) And slide the condesor back and upward. The condesor looks like a radator. Then the best way to get the evaporator out is by taking the overflow tank out of the way. (2bolts) The evaporator is somewaht in the fender so u wont be able to see it very well. But when u get it out it looks like an aluminum bottle. Then Just follow the lines and start unbolting. there are two nuts that thread on and run to the heater core. The nuts are atttached to the tubes. But that is about it. I found it a lot easier if u take the front bumper off. That was in a 90 DA. If u have any other questions let me know.

yea that is some good info. you mention the heater core hoses. once removed will this interfere with the heating/defrosting system at all. ur step by step sounds real solid but i worry about any open fittings or lines.
i just stuck a hanger in the bleeder valve and walked away. make sure NOT to touch the freeon coming out as it is hella cold. then i just went to town ripping **** out and i was bending hoses, ******* it up as it came out. just having a good time with it. i suggest you do the same..
better yet tell one of your friends to bleed it for you with their key, it'll be a good laff.

I need to do this as well, never use AC and its busted anyway. Relieving the pressure in the lines is the only thing i'm weary about. Never having done it before i'm not at all sure HOW much pressure the lines are under haha or maybe i'm just a ***** but I dont wanna end up on darwin =P
Hey....relieveing the preassure and removing the whole system is barney style easy. Just crack the lines a little so you can hear the freon bleeding...then crack them some more and let it bleed some more and crack some more and let it bleed some more until it is all the way off. NOW...this is in no way legal because releasing freon into the atmosphere is illegal. But i did it in about 10 minutes, the rest of the system just unbolts, i.e. the condensor(looks like a radiator infront of the actual radiator) the compressor, the small tank for the freon and all the lines. Just start pulling everything.
Oh!!! and as long as you only take off the AC components from the engine bay you will be fine as far as heating goes. I left the 2 sections of line that sit right above he tranny. Everything else i took out and my heat works just fine. One last thing, when the freon is bleedind stand away from it, its pretty horrible for your health.
Its easy. Just make sure you get the vaccuum pump from Autozone or somewhere to get the freon out. Aside from that, remove the condensor and compressor and lines. Really not hard at all. I just helped replace a compressor this weekend in my friends civic and it was a piece of cake.
