Y80!!!! What tranny do I have on my RS?
I desided to check the tranny code on my RS with a b18b. It says Y80 on it along with these numbers: 1026450.
After reviewing the chart on http://tiiite.b16a.com/Bgears.htm it shows that LS/GS/RS tegs only had S80 trannies. And that the GSR and JDM SiR/SiG had the Y80 tranny. Does this mean I have a GSR tranny? This would explain why my car is so much faster than my friends LS w/ similar mods.
What do your guys LS/GS/RS tegs say on the tranny?

Where can we locate that tag that has the tranny code on it?
Do you need to lift the car up?

I was just on the highway and this is what I found.

In 5th at 3500 RPM Im at 78 MPH
In 4th at 4000 RPM Im at 68 MRH
Does this sound right for a GSR tranny?

I'll be really happy if my car turns out to have a GSR tranny. I was planning on buying one anyways when I build my block, and get a Vtec head.

I will check for the tag as well, I'm still not sure where exactly to look though.

I'll go to 4000 in 5th and see where Im at. I do have massive wheels and tires, so that will make the ratio considerably longer.
205/40/17 hardly changes your ratio at all...you have an LS tranny. I used to have the same size tires until I got sick of my 17's and ditched them.

If my tranny is an LS tranny, why does it say Y80 on it? That makes no sence at all!!!!!

Can some more of you check your trannies? GSR owners and LS owners???!!!
who cares? your gearing is clearly LS gearing. the difference in diameter of your wheels is negligable.
I kinda care, I don't want to waist $600 on a tranny that I already have.
Truse me, its an LS trans. At 4000 rpms in my car, i am going 80mph. I have a GSR trans. Your at 3500rpms. Its an LS trans. The code on the trans means absolutely nothing. You cannot tell a trans based on the code on the newer hydraulic transmissions. Only on the old cable trans could you tell. The only exception to this rule is if on the casing it is stamped YS1 LSD. Then you have an ITR trans.
