So CaL drivers...
i know that it is illegal to drive without a front license plate...but i was wondering if it ok to drive if my license plate is on the dashboard or will i still get ticketed?
also my friend told me an alibi that i could tell the cops in case i did get pulled over...he said to just say that my front bumper was just recently replaced after hitting a pole or something and that i had no where to mount my front license plate...sooo you think that that alibi will pass?(unless of course he's an a$$hole cop)
he also told me that since i have no holes on my front bumper, most cops wouldnt care if i have a front license plate or not since there was visible mounting thing for the license plate...
feedback is most appreciated...thanks
im pretty sure that most dc5 owners would love to not have a front license plate...its so hideous

A cop will ticket you regardless if you have your plate in your dashboard. For the most part it's up the cop that stops you for it. If he wants to let you slide, he give you a warning and tell you get it fixed. But if your car is all hooked up with a body kit rims, etc. more than likely he knows that your don't have you licence plate in front of your car on purpose. Hope that helps.
I saw something on a forum my uber-neon (srt4) friend frequents. They had a plate thing (like a clear sleeve) that attached to the sunvisor. I think it was CA legal but i'm not sure. Just some food for thought.

I think doing this is stupid. People should do this for functionality like when they have a intercooler. not because of the way it looks

it is your car but it's still stupid regardless.

i got a few fix it from this already. what the cop said is the plate has to be in front of the bumper. meaning that if you have a body kit with a large opening with a grill in it and placed the plate inside they can still give you a ticket if they want to. the plate has to be in front of the bumper not inside or anywhere else.
