no they are not made by the same company.....rota for the most part is made in the phillipines.......so much for a japanese wheel?????????? and the quality is not the same...rota is a better company....konig used to make the rota wheels until a falling out several years ago.......nippon wheels are cheap but the quality is not as good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is that a firsthand experience, something a friend learned the hard way, or just an assumption? im not trying to flame but we want to figure out if the extra money for rota is worth it. btw konig doesn't make their wheels. theyre more of an importing company. kinda like axis. they just order wheels from other companies in asia. like axis used to sell lenso vpds which are made in thailand.

nice generalization there..with the quantity of wheels rota sells, i am sure the factory is plenty advanced...I have seen both of these wheels in person, and while the spokes are a little thicker on the nippons they otherwise just "look" cheaper imo. They are heavier as well. That being said, i would reccomend you save for some Rega's or SW388's.

buy the rotas better quality and the paint won't chip as easily as the kid who brought some into my store today to get mounted and balanced the paint started to chip off

Are they really JWL/VIA certified? Because JWL is a Japanese thing and they don't sell Rota's over here. Any Rota reps here that want to chime in?

Anyone??? Because when I compared the Rota RNR clones with the real RNRs it seemed as if they copied it down to the t with the JWL/VIA markings in the same spot and just left out the Mugen in kanji.
