Default removing "extra" things in the engine bay (4th gen).

Hi, I'm in the process of cleaning up my engine bay a bit (pulled the head due to bent valves). First thing I noticed was how many misc. solenoids + vacume lines were in a h22a engine bay vs my old civic and 'teg bays.

-Now, the egr solenoids by the driver's strut tower, can they be disconnected without tripping a CEL? I can always hide them under the Intake Manifold, worse case (I already bypassed the EGR in the IM w/ a plate).
-I saw another solenoid by the battery that had a vac. line going to nowhere? (wasn't connected). The car came with an AEM CAI, I'm assuming that thing has to do with the OE airbox setup?
-Any other misc. items that can be safely removed? I'm probably going to ditch the Charcoal canister and Evap solenoid as well (as you can tell, I'm not worried about emissions - but I'll keep it in the basement anyways).

thnx,
-l8r

Keep the EGR plugged in (you can move it) and take that other stuff out.

Start with th AC system, then P.S, and you can ditch the Cruise also. Now relocate the Battery to the trunk, and put the underhood fuse box in the glovebox. J/K this is what I am working on as we speak.

Well, I was working on some stuff 2day (finally bolted the head down). I'm planning on leaving the p/s, a/c and cruise (It comes in handy on long drives from new haven to springfield).
Things I did (actually made the bay look cleaner):
-Cruise control, rerouted the cable so it runs behind the timing-side mount, and thru this "space" thats on the side of the driver's side strut tower (you'll know what it is when u see it). Also tucked the abs connector under there, out of sight. As well as ran a new vac. line for the cruise control under there (plenty of space).
-I removed pretty much all the brackets bolted to the upper firewall (throttle/cruise cable brackets), rerouted the connector for the resistor pack under the master cylinder and clutch m/cylinder.
-I also re-routed the vac. hose for the brake booster so its out of sight (it now runs under the booster, didn't even need new hoses).
-removed the charcoal canister & evap purge solenoid. Instead of venting the tank in the engine bay (think, hose that used to go from a steel line to the canister). I used a spare hose so it goes from the hardline, to the old charcoal canister dump (red hose in my car). The hose fits in pretty good and now the gas tank vents under the car instead of engine bay (never had a prob in my eh3/dc2 before tho). that hose is also out of sight too.
-the map sensor is now under the intake manifold, using a combination of spare brackets and a 10mm bolt to secure it there.
-fuel injectors are now clipped in "backwards" the connectors are now facing to the back of the fuel rail out of sight.
-also removed a bunch of misc. brackets & stuff that held the old vac hardlines & connectors.

I'll post up some pics when I get other stuff finished (gotta get the cams & t-belt put in before I take pics).

Wow, great job. Did you notice any adverse effects in performance by removing the engine?

abs removal is a MUST for a clean engine bay, plus braking feels better too

How long did it take you to remove the ABS? I saw some of the posts people made about removing it.

it's not a question of time, it's a question of the parts. you need a lot of stuff from the non abs model, including the brake booster master cylinder some hardlines etc. other than that it's cake

well getting the line in for the passenger side takes some time, esp with the motor in the car....
