Somehow the previous owner of my db managed to mess up quite a few panels and lose quite a few screws/bolts. The air dam underneath my front bumper was hanging a bit low when I got the car. I recently put two plastic bumper clips in the holes underneath (there are no threads or way to bolt anything in). They're holding, but the bumper is still hanging low.

I'm getting ready to paint the car, should I just get a new bumper or is there a way I can fix this one?

 

Mine did the same. I use wire to pull it back up toward the engine bay.

 

If you wanted you could always use some zip ties lol its funny but it would work

Well . . . this IS just my daily driver. Hm. Tough call.

 

thats pretty common. i've seen a lot of integras with that problem. easy fix. just zip tie it up to the core support.

 

I used a few self tapping metal screws, u dont need a new bumper, that would be crazy to get a whole new bumper for that

 

Well the overall condition of the bumper isn't the greatest, but I didn't even think of the metal screws for some reason. Thanks for pointing that out!

 

dude u can pick a bumper for cheap and ur painting it anyway so u can get a god awfull one with no damage that one looks all shabby anyway

Yeah and I'm probably going to keep the 94-97 front, so a new one would be super cheap.

And yes, I've thought about cutting it . . . weight reduction!

zipties or the self tapping screws sound like good choices... the panel is there to help prevent dirt, water and crap all over the underside of your engine.

 

If you cut it does it affect anything...ie debris getting up in the engine bay and possiblky damaging something?

 

id say cut it i cut my old one..since it almost pulled off my bumper getting out of the driveway

 

I doubt it would damage anything, your engine would just get much much dirtier.

That's a scary thought. Where did you cut it? As soon as the black air dam part starts, or right after the bolt holes where it hangs by itself?

it isnt necessary but i noticed the bumper is a lot more flimsy without it. with it there and mounted the bumper doesnt move as much

 

Mine did the same.. I just used two metal screws and screwed it back up..

 

dont cut it off, ur bumper will be weaker and it will leave a spot open for rocks to come in and dent ur radiator up.

Take a drill and drill very small holes in it (about 3-4 pairs all the way across), just big enough for a zip tie. Then grab a zip tie and put it through the holes - you will find something just about anywhere to grab on to (there are pre-drilled holes in the frame/underbody or you can even use the AC lines and such).

I hate driving and seeing someone with an undertray all flapping around - you can't notice when the car is parked but when you're in a driving position its pretty annoying

 

I just cut mine...no problems

 

i took mine off, i see no use in it, if i scrap anyways when my car rebounds low and hits when im driving.

 

after time after time trying to secure mine, zip-ties, self tapping screws, bubble gum; i just cut it off. hasen't been a problem since.
