Default no VTEC, help please!!

Coming home from work this evening I decided to test my little B16 and see how it was doing ever since I discovered the problem with my VTEC engagement. Up to this day VTEC would engage but.... not at the stock engagement point of 5500 rpms, more like 6200 or so.

Anyhow I reach my desired destination and begin climbing into the higher rpm range, as I do so VTEC tries to engage. It seemed almost as if it went in and out of VTEC a few times and then stayed out. No CELs or anything just no VTEC.

Does anyone have a possible answer to my problem? Could it be that my oil levels are low or possibly that the dent in the oil pan is starving my engine of the oil pressure it needs to activate VTEC?

If anything a dent in the oil pan would create more pressure. I doubt that's it.

If you think u might not have enough oil - CHECK IT.

It's possible your stock tach is off - they seem to be ****, so hook up an aftermarket tach and see where the engagement point is.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, and for it going in and out of VTEC, I think that's all in your head - if there's a problem with VTEC - usually it'll spit a CEL.

Doesnt VTEC rely on oil pressure? The dent might be causing some starvation of oil to the head? or am i way off i'm my knowledge? idk.

Anyhow, yeah my tach is off, by like 500 rpms i believe but when it was dynoed VTEC didnt kick in on the dyno chart until 6600-6200. The oil level is full, i topped it off when i got it dynoed, which was last week sometime.

I know that it wasnt in my head due to the fact that because it kicks in so late its not a smooth transition but rather a loud kick, so to speak.

ya check ur v-tec screen, make sure there isnt a lot of junk on it, also make sure ur oil is topped off and there is no leaks, then check the wires that goes to the solenoid, make sure its not messed up, one way u kan check is disconnect the wire and get another wire from the battery (possitive side) and touch it with the positive wire on the solenoid and see if it engages to make sure it is still good
