Loris Capirossi and Valentino Rossi both tested their respective factory's 2007 GP bike at Brno yesterday and today. Capirossi apparently put in a good amount of laps, Rossi just rode it around a bit for a shakedown.
I'm happy to say the bikes still sound good

thanks for the clip. is there any ifo on the times they ran or are expected to run. i know they dropped some cc's to try and slow the bikes down a bit, but we all know how technology works, it doesnt bode well with restriction.

I wonder what rev capabilities the new 800 will have. If it will be similar to the decrease to v8s in F1. From an interview from a week ago, Capirossi thinks that given time, the 800cc will be as fast as the current 990's. It'll be interesting to see if this gives the guys with the 250cc background a little more of an upper hand.

i know for a fact that King Kenny was already complaining that they need to have a rider/bike weight limit for the new 800s. his arguement was that kenny jr already gets pulled very hard out of corners and down straights by smaller riders like Pedrosa. this effect will only be magnified whent he CC's are shrunk down.
sicne this was basically a shakedown test session, i see the 800's being very close to the current bikes speed wise. i mean it would be ignorant to think that people like Honda would not be reading betweent he lines in the new rulebook to try and find the smallest gains and loopholes.

I agree. A 30-40 lb weight advantage is signifcant in a sport where engineers work furiously to shave grams. I wouldn't be surprised to see a combined weight limit come in the next 2 to 3 years, if not sooner. It all depends on how well Pedrosa does. My guess is that he will win a lot of races next year.

um just curious but I assume you guys mean weight minimum? A weight limit would mean they can't be heavier then a certain weight which makes no sense in racing... Just being picky...

The word limit implies either a maximum, or MINIMUM amount.
Just being picky.

Actually the last sled pull I went too, the MAXIMUM weight limit for my class (WS - work stock) was 8,000lbs. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
