I'm looking for a quality set of coilovers for my 05 Civic EX. They need to be height (duh) and preferable damper adjustable. It would nice if I could find a used set of KW V2s for under a G but I haven't yet. Tell me what you use and how it works for you. Remember under a grand. Thanks.

I was think Megan's but a few of my Subaru friends say they're crap? Any info on them mounted on Hondas? Know anyone runnin' them?

Megan Racing also sucks at life. Their products aren't durable. Haha look up Megan 350Z on youtube and ask yourself "is this what I want from my car?"

I bought the Progress CS1 coilovers and the springs are crazy stiff but I have yet to install them, damned pillowball mounts. God these things are pissing me off with their complicated install. Coilovers are supposed to be easy!

Just go Tein Super Streets for the win. And I also trust what Toyomatt says, he seems to be one of the few on this forum that actually knows what he's talking about.

go for the KW's man.

even tho they are expensive, they are Stainless steel, no rust whatso ever.

The only problem with KW's is they are squeeky.

I love the Varient 3's, but if u can afford the 2's then by all means get them.

Also, try ST ( suspension techniques) they are now made by KW, and are using nearly all KW parts ( minus the stainless) and are a BUNDLE cheaper.

My buddy is a KW Rep So i know they are DAMN good quality for a fact.

 

Since you are in So Cal, i would opt for either Progress or Eibach coilovers. These can be height adjusted but not damper adjustable. I heard Progress has awsome customer service and Eibach comes with a lifetime warranty.

If you MUST get a damper adjustable coilover get Tein SS.


Personally if I was in the market for a coilover i would buy the Eibach's.

btw OP, "budget" and "coilovers" dont usually go together lol. you could just get coilover sleeves and shock/strut combo. thats a REAL budget coilover

 

tein basics and full spc camber kit can be had for just around 1g

 

Since you asked for feedback too, I'll let this post ride in the forum (and FS/wanted needs to go in the FS thread at the top).

But if you're interested, I have a set of height adjustable H&R coilovers that I'm selling. They are for an RSX, but they work on an 03-05 Civic with a few modifications.

And I'm not looking to get too much out of them in contrast to what they are new. And with H&R, you can always get them revalved (shocks are made by Bilstein).

With coilovers like Megans, I call those throw-aways. Because when the shock dies (and it will), good luck getting them revalved.

I've got a friend that has a daily driven RSX, that he tracks in the summer. And, with the crappy winters we have up here in Wisconsin, the suspension sees a lot of road salt. He's had them for almost 2 years now, and they're still extremely clean. The ride is also very nice. When he sets it on a softer setting, it feels very close to a stock ride quality, then when the dampers are cranked up to a track/stiff setting, the car just sticks to turns like no other.

 

yea kw variant 2 are good i ahve them and love them except the squeaking but that is why they made wd-40

 

Dang, I pretty much finished the install on my Progress coilovers and I must say that it was not a fun process. A lot of the pieces needed to be customized to make them work. Now I'm worried because when I turn the steering wheel, I can hear the springs make a massive amount of noise... oh and I didn't really lower the car but I need alignment like crackheads need crack...

that noise is prob the spring jumping, at least that happened to me
just jack it up and (i dont know the correct term) the 'plate' w/ the ball bearings ... make sure that sits right in the top of the fenderwell when you jack ur car back down so that when u turn ur wheels it will spin on the ball bearings instead of jumping

 

if i had the money, id get the V3s in a flash, but i don't so, from what i've read, i'll probably just try to get some Tein SS coilovers. I don't want to F around with custom parts and stuff with the other ones listed. BTW, you all are very helpful.

Those were the ones I was supposed to pick up. Actually ordered those but True Honda called me up and said they didn't stock those anymore so I got the Progress coilovers... so far, not doing so hot.

know of the cheapest place to get REAL Tein Basic? not the fake EBAY ones...
