More Questions about the IACV & FITV
Vehicle: 5th Gen, 94 Accord Ex, 4 Dr, F22B1 V-TEC, Auto Trans, CD5 Chassis, 160K
IACV --
Is there any carbon cleaner that is plastic safe for the IACV accordion spring inside? ... Is there any rubber inside the IACV? ... If yes, same question as above.
The archives said techs spray WD-40 inside the IACV after they clean it. But WD-40 is known to gum up. So, wouldn't a teflon lube be better? A thin liquidy Silicone might even work better, but it migrates easily and will foul O2 Sensors? But I wonder if it would migrate off the IACV?
The end of the IACV has a female pentagon socket screw. Does this end need to be removed to be cleaned? Is there a special purpse for that screw?
I see a hole with a SS screen in the IACV. I assume this is not conected to the spring in the hole next to it. What is beneath that SS screen and does it do? ... (just trying not to damage anything)
FITV --
I see two end caps on the FITV and one has a pipe for coolant flow into it. Do these need to come off for cleaning?
REFILLING WITH COOLANT --
Since these two parts have coolant flowing thru them, and are located above the air bleed hole (physics says air will rise to the highest spot in a system with water, and that is why plumbers bleed at the highest radiator first), how does one bleed the air from those two parts and get things back to normal?

it's best to just keep all your questions about these parts in one thread, like the one you already started. Just an FYI.
I've always heard of people using carb cleaner to clean the IACV. Not sure about WD-40.

Can the EGR valve be cleaned? Any precautions, things to do or not do?
Yes, I am referring to the valve itself. Btw, while looking into this in the archives, I just found out about the clogged EGR "Ports" issue. Since the former owner did not take care of this vehicle, I know they must be at least very restricted, at 160k. So, I will be looking into this procedure. I was glad to see that since I have a 94 Accord, I will not have to do any drilling plugs out. But I am confused as to whether I will need to "remove" the Fuel Rail or just loosen it? I cannot tell if Mike813 is talking about the EGR valve or the EGR ports, when he says you do not need to remove the injectors from the rail or even the rail itself, just move it over. Well, that is the next project trying to see how to do that.

Ah, never done it myself. Prolly have to research if it's possible.
