Default 4th Gen door dome light issue

This may be the door adjar sensor, however, my dome light comes on when you have the dome switch on the full right (or left, whatever side) however, when it is in the center so that it is set to come on when the door opens, it doesn't turn on. It doesn't work for either the passenger or the driverside door so I doubt that both the sensors are bad. Anyone else have this problem and did you ever solve it.?

to test your theory unscrew and then unplug one of the switches. I think that with the circut open the light should be on. I'm not really sure about that, but if it is the switch you should be able to clean it and get it working again. You have to start somewhere and I think the switch is the first place.

I am pretty sure that the circuit goes like this

power->door switch->light->ground. When the door is closed, it press the door switch and opens the circuit, and when you open the door, it closes the circuit and allows current to get to the bulb.

yes, try manually opening and closing the switch with your fingers quite a few times. sometimes the dome light will flicker in which case it's usually that switch.

I think that it has to be just a bad switch because I can lock the car from inside with the door open without having to lift up on the door handle. In addition, I can open the door and the windows still work even after the car is off. Looks like I will have to pick a new one up some time

My switches used to work intermittently until I cleaned the contact area with alcohol and rubbed some corrosion off with sandpaper.
