Reading spark plugs?
My car seems like it's going through an abnormal amount of oil since I had the engine re-built. I had my head milled 20thou and port polished, everything else is stock spec with the addition of basic bolt ons and advanced timing.
My car seems to run rich (i've been told there is a bit of black smoke from my exhaust at high rpms) which I'm not too worried about, also I get a lot of black "spots" all over the back of my car and license plate (which I assume is from running rich).
Is there anyway to read the plugs to tell if I am in fact burning oil? I think there is a leak somewhere but I haven't had the time to look into it yet.
I pulled my plugs yesterday and they are mainly a tan/brown/grey colour, with a bit of black (carbon?) around the top of the threaded section.
Thanks in advance,
Adam
