Freeway offramp. Pull up behind Chevy dually. Light changes. His reverse lights come on. I hit the horn and start looking for reverse. Too late! His statement once we get off of the street " I did not see you"
Duh! You have to take the time to look to see someone! Time from reverse lights to crunch = less than 1 second.

Sorry-I just had to vent. Thank God for insurance! Car is at the body shop getting a new hood and front bumper.

I am glad that no one was hurt and it is just a caR, but the sheer stupidity and cluelessness of the truck driver was infuriating.

so he was at a light on an offramp (where lots of cars decellerate all in the same direction) and he decides now is the time to back up!?!?! even if he didn't see you why the hell would you do that or did he think R meant "Roll out"

Detail I left out- disabled car on off ramp. It would have been nice if the driver of the disabled car had removed it from traffic lanes. I went to UPS after the accident and decided to go back and get relevant information about the disabled car (just in case the truck driver decides to lie and say I rear ended him), and it was still there-about 15 minutes later.

Infuriating and frustrating, I know how ya feel. At least you know who did it and should get satisfaction. All the damages to my car have been while it was parked, and a note left under the windshield wiper? Forgetaboutit. Which is why I need to pay off this beater before getting an R. No DD duties for heR

JDM front coming?

 

Same thing happened to me 5 or 6 years ago in my first integra, he reveresed maybe 6 or 7 yards, i sat blowing the horn (loud freekin airhorns too) and he kept coming, i couldnt reverse as there was another car tight up my *** and i couldnt drive out of the way as there were cars coming in the opposite direction. Then the stupid *** driver gets out and starts inspecting his ******* tow hitch for damage!!!!He put a hole in my front bumper and bent the front panel and he was worried about a freekin hitch...i had the whole car resprayed and his insurance forked out. I had the bumper replaced and painted but it looked so out of place against the rest of the paint work that i wouldnt settle for anything less than a full respray and after a few months of fighting with his insurance company they eventually agreed to pay for the whole lot! The driver was also prosecuted for driving without due care and attention and i really socked it to him in the witness box. Luck was on my side that day as the judge seemed to have a severe dislike to SUV drivers who have no need for a truck that size and asked the driver what he worked at and why he needed something that large that he wasnt able to see other cars behind him when reveresing.....dumb ***** like that shouldnt be even given a scooter licence!!!

cant someone technically back up and hit the front of you car, and then tell his insurance company that you rolled up and hit him in the back? Iv always been scard of this senario, how do you guys get the insurance companies to pay?
