Default removing hard water spots?

there are some spots on my hood where water had sat for too long and left spots that are not removeable with car wash soap

so I was wondering how to get these off without wat sanding?

maybe go to the store and pick up some clay bar?

Clay bar will take them out with ease.

dont do that.
just use a claybar, or a chemical or lightly abrasive paint cleaner. meguiars has good products that will get the job done.

Don't use a finnish product for removing dirt. Wodd up a piece of newspaper like any other towel or rag, spray the windex wipe until removed.

If you have a heavy duty buffer and some rubbing compound, that will do the trick.

what color car and how long have they been there?

One of our regular customers drives a black 997 c4s I went to detail his car 2 weeks ago and he said he washed it a few times himself at the beach and didn't dry it at all. It was covered in waterspots, but it was just hard water from a hose and was a week old so it came off with a normal polish and a DA.

On the other hand, I have done cars with water spots that have been baking in the sun for months, probably lots of acid rain too. They needed to be polished out with the rotary.

Meguiars makes a hard water spot remover. It's in their marine line, so you will have to go to a boat store or order it online.
