Default 1990 Prelude 4WS SI Purchase Gone Wrong *main fuse*

Hey guys,
First post, I am here to help my brother out. He bought a 90 Prelude 4WS SI sight unseen in Chicago (we're in Minneapolis) for $4500. Yeah, waay too much but this is the car he had in college and he *had* to have it. The previous owner said the engine and transmission had been replaced as well. An hour away from the purchase the car shut down and would not restart. It was also leaking oil. He had it towed to a Honda dealership in Milwaukee and the car sits there. He is back home.

I talked to the service manager and he said this.
1. They put a main fuse in it and the car runs fine and the fuse isn't blowing. There must be an intermittant short. Any obvious locations for these types of shorts? Any common locations?

2. The oil leak is coming from the top of the transmission near the shift linkage. They said there was some welding on the shift linkage. No idea what that is. I hope I can talk to a tech at the dealership and get more details. Besides the input shaft seal on the trans, what other seals are there? Is that an easily serviced part.

I want to be able to rescue the car for my bro. He is so stressed out about it he wants to just cut his losses and take the $400 the dealership would give him. I can't let him lose that much money. All advice is appreciated!

The main fuse - main relay is a common known problem in hondas. It doesn't mean there is a short somewhere. As far as an oil leak, get it fixed. No matter where it is it can be fixed. definatelly not worth ditching the car over. Now the relay is fixed get it home and fix it when he has the time and or money.
