f22 or f23 into 92 prelude si?
just curious if anyone has done this (and yes i searched).
i know it sounds backwards, but the reason being is i found a '92 prelude si w/a h23 that has a bad block.
my original thought was to swap a f22 or f23 block under the h23 head, but i have a del sol that i just swapped a f22a in, and i would love to put the h23 head on that.
obviously it's difficult to find h23's, and when you do, they are expensive as hell. thus why i thought it might be interesting to put a f22a or f23 in it.
i know base model preludes had f22a's, so i'm assuming everything would line up. does anyone know if they have the f22a6 w/the dual stage intake manifold?
i would love to throw a f23 in it, as they are a dime a dozen at local junkyards, but i am pretty sure they have the single stage intake.
any input would be appreciated

it is possible and it has been done...previous owner of my prelude did it......i actually hated the f22a and swapped in a H23 w/ 14b turbo
. f22a's just don't have enough power to excite me.

im pretty sure that the a6 never came in the prelude. and the f23 only has a single stage manifold.
and yes any h and f head block or combination their other wise will work and bolt into a prelude or accord or civic with correct mounts

yea, well my plan for the prelude is to be a nice daily driver. preludes have all the nice amenities to make it a great dd.
the del sol is the fun car. it's fun as hell even with a completely stock f22a1
this was why i was thinking an f23 in the prelude would be adequate. i want to do this swap as quickly as possible with as few headaches as possible.
f23 longblocks can be had around here with low mileage for as low as $150! i can pickup an obd1 f22a ecu w/o a problem as well.
i'm just curious if anyone has done this and what they have run into regarding vacuum lines, wiring, etc.
thanks

ok cool. so if the prelude came with the f22a1 then i'd assume that the h23 harness will bolt right up to the single stage intake manifold of an f23 (if the sensor plugs are the same?)
otherwise i suppose i could get a f22a1 and bolt that right in. hrm.

Yea, I just picked up a shell and an F22b engine within the last week. Now I just need a tranny and some odds and end parts to make it complete.
Here are some pics of what I got so far.

LOL it is a different color for sure. It looks like Chocolate in person. And Lots of Flake. I will prolly either take it back to milano Red or go Black with it. I haven't decided yet.

that's what i was thinking. i found four f23 longblocks in a local junkyard for $150 a piece..all with under 80k miles. and at the same junkyard, f23 tranny's...all with under 60k miles...$75 a piece!!!
i love f-series. eng+tranny+distributor (i don't think junkyards include these w/the longblocks) for under $300. i figure that swap should just pop right into the prelude shell. not sure what i'd do about vtec, if anything.
i'm not going for speed here, just a nice driving, comfortable and reliable daily driver.

I wouldn't go longer then the M2L5 (92-96 Prelude) transmission. My mom has an F23 Accord, and the gears are longer then anyone could ever tolerate (at least if they want to get moving quickly). Her 4th gear is already about .81, 5th is somewhere in the .6's

sorry Im still learning as Im 17 and have no auto schooling at all... just got into cars recently, forgive the noobness but I must ask... Why use the vtec ecu from an f22 when f23b1 already has vtec?

because you need a vtec ecu to actuate the vtec on the motor itself. the f23 ecu is a vtec ecu, but it is obd2, making it incompatible with the wiring on the obd1 prelude, thus the reason for getting the f22b obd1 vtec ecu.
