bumper cover removal/installation '97 accord 2.2L 4-dr
Hello all,
I wrecked my girlfriend's car a few months back and ordered a new bumper cover and had it painted to match. Unfortunately, the old bumper cover was nearly torn off in the wreck, so I had little indication as to how it mounted up. Being an engineer, I took my best shot at it and successfully mounted the bumper cover using the old hardware, but it sits about 1/4" too low (below the headlights), so you can see all the little black plastic screws. Can anyone give me a step-by-step (with pics would be nice) as to how to properly install this thing? It's a '97 4-dr 2.2L Accord. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Jeff

There are two black pieces of metal, connected to the radiator frame by 2 screws each. These pieces are called the bumper reinforcers, and they can be adjusted by loosing the top screw and lifting the piece itself, and tightning the lower screw. That will make your bumper sit a little higher. But also, don't forget that you will need to install all clips that hold the bumper cover with the bumper's shock absorber (which looks like a piece of foam).
Check also to see if no damage was caused to your radiator frame support or either one of the bumper reinforcers.
Good look doing the job. It isn't supposed to be more than 1 hour of work.
