Default 97 mustang GT convertible?

my friend just got a 97 mustang GT convertible, hes bone stock and hes very cocky about his V8. does my civic stand a chance at all? or he'll smoke me bad?

his car: 97 4.6liter mustang GT convertible, 260hp, 300lbs of torque. bone stock.

my car: 97 civic dx coupe, jdm b16a, gsr tranny p28ecu w/ skunk2 ship, AEM CAI, Greddy evo, progress springs w/ KYB gr-2s, 17" RH cp8, no A/C & no P/S.peace

put on some ligher wheels and drive like hell and you might have chance. with just a b16 its difficult running a stang. i have a feeling he will edge you out everytime.

Ya, get an exhuast mani also, then try it once and see what happens. There's not a whole lot to make a difference in power after what you've done for less than a G.

Unfortunately, since you have a rather heavy DX coupe ('97), he'll eat you 9 out of 10 times (unless he can't drive). If you had that b16a in a CRX, you'd own him though.

if it really is a 97, it's the 215 hp version - you should probably be able to beat it.

if it is the newer 260 hp version - your only chance is the possibility that he can't drive

The 96-98 are slow as *****. When I had my stock 00 Si for a few days, some guido in a yellow GT convertible revved on me, and we were even thru first and second.... he started pulling on me in 3rd slowly. That being said, you car has a similar setup and probably wont lose by much if at all (depending on driver).

Do I hear some NOS call coming soon! Go with a 60 shot which will be perfectly safe and your friend will not know what hit him.
