Default GSR timing question

ok so i was at my friends house earlier in the day, i just got my GSR swap into my EG the distributor is pushed forward he siad the timing was advanced...if so wouldnt the idle be higher? my car idles at 1000-1100

is running advanced timing bad on a stock engine? any chance of valve kiss? or anything else that could expletive my head up

my friends that did the swap didnt pull the head off the block to see if it was fucked
so i dont really know how much it was abused from the previous owner
