Im sure you know what piece Im talking about when I say "U-Shape" piece, and Im curious if it serves any purpose at all. I know you have to remove it to put in a cold air intake, obviously, but for a stock intake do you need this? Does it decrease your chances of your intake sucking up bigger pieces of debris? Any input is appreciated. Im concidering the spoon kevlar intake arm and eliminating that U-Shape piece and the half of the intake box that comes off. Thanks again.

 

seems to me if you cut that u shape off you have a cold air intake with your stock airbox....
