Seneca Rocks Ride report. (56k maybe)
Hopefully I suck at making ride report threads just as much as I do at ride threads so here goes. Ended up going on a ride out to Seneca Rocks with two other guys from dcsportbikes.com. I left my girlfriends house at 730 and met up with the other two guys in Leesburg.
One of the other guys had an R6 and the other had a 1st-gen SV (w00t). we headed out on 15 south towards 55. i honestly have no clue how we got there cuz i was following Lonebrave (r6) but we hit some good roads on the way and were in front royal within hour and half. stopped at wendys for an early lunch. and headed back out on 55.
Ive been on 55 a lot before heading out into WV but never on a bike and it was a COMPLETELY different experience on the bike and it was awesome. If anyone ever heads out that way, they built a new 55 which is a 4 lane highway for about 20-30 miles, DONT GET ON IT! The old 55 is awesome! Basically, just ignore the signs and dont get on the highway and youll hit some pretty damn good twisties.
For a lot of the trip, lonebrave was coaching me on my technique and how to lean off the bike, really nice guy
he has some track experience and is pretty good. we kept up a pretty good pace and were at seneca rocks by 1ish i think. we then took 33 south too Harrisonburg, gased up at a chevron, and headed back out up 11, hopped on 211 and took that all the way across the mountain. saw a sorta acciedent on the way up the mountain, looked like someone had dropped somethin off a truck and maybe hit a biker. everyone seemed ok though.
headed back down the mountain with a lot of traffic and then back up 15 where we split up.
all in all i tallied 440 miles, lonebrave traveled from AA county had 480, and the other sv had around 400 (he was from leesburg). i finally got back to the girlfriends at 7 oclock. (yes im whipped and she i had to take care of her. shes a trooper, props to her for being cool with me riding after she had surgery. love ya( she reads HT)) so 11 and a half hours and needless to say my *** and wrists hurt but it was hella worth it
it was a great ride if anyone has got the day to throw away
some noteworthy events of the day were when i almost got hit by a 4 foot vulture. seriously. it was on the side of the road and it started to fly across at about head level right as we were passing and that thing was DAMN SLOW and i had to duck and swerve to miss it. also some squids caught up to us and passed us and shot gravel all over us in a tight right hander then stayed in the opposite lane all the way through a COMPLETELY BLIND left hander. idiots. their other buddy stayed behind us until a stop sign and he had an MV which mad me hot and bothered. also, lone brave almost got t-boned by a couple of rednecks in a fiat who flew onto the road without stopping at the end of the driveway, lonebrave said he said what the expletive and they replied with "wll... sorry." lol. cant really think of anything else right now. so if you read my novel thanks! hope you enjoyed! stay safe guys, shiney side up!
PICS:
Wal-Mart Lot cuz i had to get batts for the camera.

Wendy's parking lot lineup. I kept fackin up the "cool line up" all day.

Watchin Lonebrave struggle with his one-piece suit was funny. i cant wait for that

Seneca Rocks. but, as we all know, it's not the destination, its the journey

The line up at the Seneca Rocks motel/diner.

THanks for reading!
Cliff notes: 440 miles, 11.5 hours, home to leesburg, leesburg to front royal, 55 to seneca rocks, 33 to harrisonburg, 11 to 211, 211 to 15, 15 to home. learned a lot, saw a lot, *** hurt a lot, and had A LOT of fun with some great guys

Looks like some great places to hang out during a ride.
Great pics.
Don't be scared of getting a 1piece - it's easy to get out of once you get more familiar with it. I try to use a 2piece for non-track riding, though, as it's easier to get out of when stopping to eat...which, if you've ever seen a picture of me, you'll know it's something I like to do a lot.
